Hi Francis,
We are working on custom URLs. Stay tuned.
I want this feature. Any timeline?
Oh yay, was wondering about the same thing! I have one that uses the name of my list and my other paper.li url is all numbers... Custom URL would be the BESTEST!
Until the custom URL solution is created, I created my own subdomain off of a domain I already owned and had it forwarded to my paper. http://daily.blacktwincities.com
Hope that helps you!
Hi There,
I'd like to make a similar question. Why is it that I can't make my paper.li having a simply http://paper.ly/mytwitterusername as a lot of paper.li accounts I have seen around.
It looks like this is already possible, judging from http://paper.li/JustKinky
Yeah, it is, i think. But why can't I?
Those are older versions of the URL that you are seeing.
In order to make a change that will provide users with more flexibility over their URL, we have had to discontinue the naming convention that pulled the twitter user name and implement one with a numbering scheme. This is only a temporary solution until we can roll out customized URLs.
Ok Kellly,
I understood now. Thank you.
Question: If you provide users with a customized URL, is that changed for the end user? or is that something we would have to implement when that change is available? And how does affect our paper.li newspaper name. Do we have to "grab" the name before anyone else?
Hi Cori,
We are currently working on the strategy for that. I can't give you specifics yet however I can say that we are taking all use cases into consideration and we will let our users know when we are ready to implement that change and how we and users will go about it.
I don't have a time frame for you, however it is one of the top requested features and receives a lot of our attention. Stay tuned!
Here is the url that was given to me when I signed up: http://paper.li/ZachBuckler/1309204528
The rest of my post vanished when I posted it. I wanted to know if those numbers would eventually be taken away. Or would I eventually have the option of having those numbers removed?
I would like touse the dlvr.it to tweet about my paper every day, but it says http://paper.li/BeCyberwise/1309649589
here's an example of the dlvr.it issue
How are the custom URL's coming along?
Thanks to everyone for your feedback to custom URL's. We are working on this feature and will have it out to our publishers as soon as we can. I can't give a date, however I can say that we are really eager to roll them out to you!
Look forward to finding out when this will happen. Again, would love to promote more so may go down the subdomain route until this is released. Also, how will this notification be made public? Thanks
Like everyone else, I'm hoping for the release of custom url's
Any update for us?
-thx
No date yet. We are working on them though. Thanks for hanging in there!
Hi everyone,
As far as i'm concerned, defining one of my papers as the "default" paper, thus giving it the "default" URL (paper.li/twitterusername) would be fine; and for each other papers giving them an alias in top of the current number (paper.li/twitterusername/education on top of paper.li/twitterusername/1318243099 ) would really be cool and nice !

I too would like to see custom URLs. http://paper.li/fatlester/1297831993 isn't exactly the most flattering name for a health and nutrition-related paper.
Fat Lester is the cat, by the way.
My domain name http://diversitynewsonline is no longer forwarding to my paper at http://paper.li/sklopfer/1290499511?utm_source=subscription&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=paper_s Why is this happening?
Hi Susan,
I am sorry but how did this work before? There is no known bug on our side. Where did you embed the Paper.li URL? http://paper.li/sklopfer/1290499511 works as well .
To take a deeper look into your case it would be great if you could submit a ticket (on the right hand side). Thank you and have a nice day!
Birgit
Bridget -- I keep my domains at simple.url. I have the domain diversitynewsonline.com pointed to http://paper.li/sklopfer/1290499511 but the paper doesn't load when I go there. It used to, and I don't understand the problem. Why don't you try it and see if you can bring up my paper by going to http://diversitynewsonline.com. Thanks, Susan Where, by the way, do you submit a ticket. I don't see anything "on the right."
Hi Susan,
We always recommend to submit a ticket because we can then send you also screen shots to your email address. On the upper right side there is a box "Didn't find what you were looking for?" with a link to open a ticket: http://support.paper.li/requests/portal/new
Still, when I enter the Paper.li URL, the paper is loading without a problem. Same when I enter the URL of your website. So it may be a server side issue or something with your browser. Which browser are you using and what processing system? Have you already tried to empty the cache?
Best regards,
Birgit
Hi,
Just to say: please release custom url's and best regards Paper.li team!

Any news on custom URLs?
Eagerly awaiting a solution on this. Would be great if we could purchase a domain and then use it for our paper.
Still my paper is not appearing in Google search results even though my blog posts about the paper "Engineering and Management News" appear. A custom URL may be picked up by the search engines more quickly than the number.
There is a closed for comment topic. I give Twitter messages but the articles does not appear in my paper. Why? I think a facility to directly send links for inclusion in paper is required. May be a maximum number say 5 can be provided so that the publisher whenever he has some interesting link can directly submit them say 2 hours before the publication of an edition and he knows for sure that they will be included. Some of my friends commented that the paper is interesting. We need to provide them a better reading experience.
I love my paper.li!! Thanks for this awesome business tool. I'm eagerly awaiting the custom URL.
hey guys, you have been working on custom URLS since may of this year, it is now going on November. Can the programmers prioritize this a bit? Thanks so much for any updates on timing.
Hi Honey,
It is prioritized and top o' the list. It is not a small task, and thus planning is essential! We will keep you posted.
Sounds great Kelly. Looking forward to it.
Oh another question if you have a moment: I have "Update Frequency" set to weekly, and "promote" set to ON. This means once a week it should post to my twitter stream right? Didnt seem to happen last week, and was wondering if you knew why.
Thanks so much!
Hmm. Yes, it should. Unless there is a technical or 3rd party issue. Twitter did have performance issues last week that could have affected your promo tweet.
Let's watch it this week and if you see that it does not go out, submit a ticket and let's look into it. Does that sound good to you?
Sounds perfect. Thanks for the amazingly quick reply, and apologies to everyone else for hi-jacking this thread. Back to Clean URLS. You know you have a great product when people are begging you for short, clean, customizable URLs so they can promote you to their friends :)
Hi Kelly, I am a new user registered yesterday. Of course, this is a good thing so I want to give a try. I have two specific questions. 1. Why I can see my friend www.paper.li/tseamon/orgdev set a specific URL like that? 2, Why I can see Seamon creates new pages like Custserv?
Hi Julian,
In the beginning of our service we offered a URL just with the editor`s name. We needed to suspend that while we prepare the new naming convention. You can see it in Terrence Seamons latest created papers by the way, too: http://paper.li/tseamon/1317411793 , for example.
Thank you for your understanding,
Birgit
Maybe this has been suggested already:
register create your url, host it, and make it resolve to the paper.li address.
See my paper http://occupy-news.net for example, which resolves into http://paper.li/f-1320342550

Hello Ms. Seitz,
I plan to do a lot of promoting of my newspaper page and I wanted to know if you eventually offer custom URLs, will I have to reprobate that link? I just do not want to have broken links in the future. Also, will there ever be an option to have a custom link?
Chicly Yours,
The Chic Spy
Hi The Chic Spy,
yes, there will be, but we are still working on a solution for the custom URLs. What type of address would you like to see?
Furthermore, concerning promotion, we are currently testing the new widget NOMAD. If you would like to, you can become a beta tester: http://blog.paper.li/2011/11/beta-test-new-paperli-nomad.html
Best regards,
Birgit
Birgit Seitz, for example you have a user that has this url: http://paper.li/weejeemedia/social-media
how did get the social-media after his user name?
Thank you,
Is it possible to have the Tweet update direct to a website using the nomad widget???
Hi websonalized,
In the beginning of our service (more than a year ago now) we offered a URL just with the editor`s name and the orginal title of a paper. We needed to suspend that while we prepare the new naming convention.
Best regards,
Birgit
Hi Beer Champions,
I am sorry but have to ask: Do you want the promotion tweet to link to your website?
Thank you in advance for any clarification,
best regards,
Birgit
