Are these daily views or total views of the papers lifetime?
Hi Jeannette, hi Robert, hi MattM2G,
thank you all for your comments.
We agree, promotion is very important for your papers and we still see very good results thanks to the promo tweet on Twitter. Besides that, we are working on a new promotion feature for FB. And: Since last week you are now able to upload a csv-file to invite up to 10,000 of your contacts to read your paper. This will help increasing your paper views, too.
One team tip: The more focused your paper is, the better. So do not share (only) very popular sources, but try to find a USP for your paper. And make other people talk about it! Drop the URL of your paper in blogs where the topic of your paper is discussed. Or start a TweetChat! Here are some tips from my colleague Kelly: http://community.paper.li/2012/06/26/getting-started-with-tweetchat...And last but not least: Take a look on our community blog to see how others are promoting their papers: http://community.paper.li/
Twitter promotion is important. Personally use: "Spread out your Tweets over the day with @bufferapp: http://buff.ly/IGQZ94 " for promotions. Just copying the Tweet from the paper and then posting it to the "Buffer" with slight changes. People read tweets at various time of the day. Many get many tweets, and do not read all of them. They read what they have time for when they log in, that can be in the morning before work or during a break, at lunch etc. By having buffer post a tweet to the paper four or more times a day, it increases HITS..
We're doing all that is suggested for promotion. Is there any possibility the counter isn't working? I only see one click a day... (and I imagine that's me)...
This issue has made me want to leave this site altogether, and I currently Administer 4 papers for different Twitter accounts, with total followers of 25,000. The "Views" statistics reset recently, and then are back to the correct number the next day, then back to reset, and I am unable to use the function to make a story my lead story anymore. Not sure what is happening, but if there are major issues, it would be nice to see a blog post or email to users to let us know!
I agree with Bob, "views" is misleading. It would be a useful metric if we could see how many people "viewed" the paper each day.

thank you for your feedback. If you do not mind, send me the URL of your paper and I will take a look how we can help you to increase the numbers of views / your readership. Okay? We see very good results e.g. with using the twitter promotion feature.
Thank you in advance and best regards,
Hi Bob, hi Peter,
thank you for your requests and please excuse the delay of my response.
The views are total views of the papers lifetime. But for example when you view your paper today, move to another paper and then click on your paper again (without being logged-out Paper.li), this will only count as one view.
I hope this answers your question?
I would like to know this as well! :)
