With our easy Mailchimp integration, you can create an email campaign using the newsletter and your existing contact list.
Not using Mailchimp? No problem. You can also export your newsletter’s HTML to use with any third-party email services such as ConstantContact, VerticalResponse, AWeber, or any other.
Install your third party subscription box onto your paper for a fully integrated solution.
Using Mailchimp or any other external service
From your Paper Settings Dashboard > Newsletter Service.
Scroll down to the bottom under the section "SEND VIA EXTERNAL SERVICE".
Choose whether to use Mailchimp or any other third party service.
For Mailchimp, click "Mailchimp" and follow the steps shown:
STEP ONE: Show a mailchimp subscription box on your paper, rather than the default paper.li subscription box. Turn on the toggle and follow the link shown to get the code for your Mailchimp subscription box. Once you've installed the Mailchimp subscription box code, your Paper.li subscription box will not be shown.
STEP TWO: Assuming you will no longer be collecting subscribers using paper.li subscription box, you can export your already exisiting subscribers to either an existing Mailchimp list or a new Mailchimp list.
STEP THREE: Delete your paper.li subscribers, if you no longer wish to use Paper.li to send your newsletters for each edition. If you skip this step, your Paper.li subscribers will also get a Newsletter from our service.
STEP FOUR: Click Export Newsletter to Mailchimp to fill in fields for your Mailchimp Campaign. Once you click "Export to Mailchimp", sign into Mailchimp and send your campaign.
Using any other third party email service
STEP ONE: Hide the paper.li subscription box
If you are using a third party service to send your emails, we recommend that you hide your paper.li subscription box and instead install a custom subscription box into either the custom header section of your paper or into one of the ad units spaces. Most third party email services provide the HTML for a subscription box that you can insert into your paper.
- From your Paper Settings Dashboard > Newsletter Service > Subscriber Attraction tools
- Turn the Paper.li subscription box toggle to OFF.
STEP TWO: Install any third party email service subscription box (A-weber, Constant Contact, etc) into the HTML field of one of your ad units.
Install the code into one of your ad unit units.
- Visit your third party service and copy the HTML code given to create a subscription box.
- From your Paper Settings Dashboard, click Web newspaper > Layout & appearance, then Ad units.
- Customize which ad positions you would like to show by clicking on the ad position to view the ad position toggle. Switch toggle to ON.
- Enter the HTML code for the subscription box into the Custom HTML field.
STEP THREE: Assuming you will no longer be collecting subscribers using paper.li subscription box, you can export any already exisiting subscribers to your own email service. To do so, go to Paper Settings Dashboard > Newsletter Service > Subscriber Management tools > Export Subscribers.
STEP FOUR: Delete your paper.li subscribers-- if you no longer wish to use Paper.li to send your newsletters for each edition. If you skip this step, your Paper.li subscribers will also get a Newsletter from our service. To do so, go to Paper Settings Dashboard > Newsletter Service > Subscriber Management tools > Delete Subscribers.
STEP FIVE: Under Paper Settings Dashboard > Newsletter Service, scroll down to the bottom under the section "SEND VIA EXTERNAL SERVICE". Click the HTML Export option to capture the HTML to paste into your email service tool.
Paper.li News Page App (on a WIX site)
The Mailchimp integration is not available for the Paper.li News Page App on WIX. If you are using the Paper.li News Page App for WIX, you can either send your newsletters automatically via paper.li or use the HTML export, described above.
