2015 VAT Rules for EU member states and how they apply to our Paper.li Pro users
Why does paper.li need your billing address?
"In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." ~ Benjamin Franklin
Yes, that's right. The reason has to do with a policy on the Value Added Tax in the European Union.
Beginning January 1, 2015, a new policy on VAT (Value Added Tax) regulations for the European Union requires that we request the location of all our users so that, if you are located in the EU, the correct VAT rate will be applied to your invoice.
If you are not located in the European Union, we are requesting your address to confirm that there is no tax to be applied to your invoice. VAT is only applied to consumers located in one of the 28 member states of the EU.
For our publishers located in the European Union, this new VAT policy means that we will begin applying VAT according to the country where you are located, and no longer according to the country of the supplier (Paper.li). You can learn more about this regulation here.
Businesses with a VAT Number
If you are a business with a valid VAT Number and you have provided us that information, then VAT will not be applied to your invoice. You will be responsible to pay VAT to the government yourself, using your location country rate.
How to update your address
To update your billing address, sign into your paper.li account that "owns" the Pro paper, and go to this link to submit your address and/or VAT number. (You must be signed into your publisher account to use the link.)
