Great idea and we are currently working on different advertising models. We will roll it out as quickly as we can.
How about allowing paper creators to signup for a premium paper.li account which is advertising free or even better allows the creator to run their own advertising.
This way paper owners will push their paper more and you will get guaranteed income?
Just a thought.

I am excited as I live in a town of 24,000 people and there is one newspaper. They are expensive and do not help the smaller business owners. My plan is to advertise at an inexpensive rate. I would really be excited about this!
Excellent idea. Our community will be the first to know when our premium service rolls out, so stay tuned.
Apart from being able to use our own advertising - and, yes, I'm happy to go along with Cheshire Daily's Premium model if the price is right - how about being able to add more of our own editorial/articles to a page (and even whole editorial pages)? Now, that would make paper.li AWESOME!
And another feature request (please, please!) Analytics! I'm dying to know which items visitors click on. With Analytics, advertising and custom editorial, we're talking REALLY AWESOME!
I would pay a premium price to be able to embed my paper in my website, be able to put in extra articles and sections of my own, and also take advertising. In short, I like your content and setup, but want to make it load with my own URL, and my own advertising. Though, I have no problem with an adsense link to you guys, too.
Happy to see other publishers have similar projects to mine. All the above would bring us into the right direction.
Especially adding own url and content subject would be highly attractive.
I'd also love to share own advertising with paper.li
Please DO IT FAST , before somebody else runs away with your fresh ideas!!!
I hope you're going to roll it out soon. I've only been on paper.li a few days and have already been contacted by two companies who told me they're doing the same aggregation paper.li is doing, but I can use my own website and put in my own google adsense or advertising, put in fields for my own articles and have their articles build around my article structure. They both asked if I wanted to be a beta tester for their newspaper/magazine generation sites.
I said no for several reasons. First and foremost is that Guy Kawasaki is involved in your company. Next is that I've only been here a few days and I don't just test and jump ship. And finally, you've said that you were going to roll out these features soon, so I'll wait. . . . for a bit.
But, just a head's up. There are other companies rapidly developing what you've got and going to start from the getgo with the features people are currently asking you for.
I would like to have more control over the categories that tweets are filtered into. Sometimes tweets have nothing to do with the paper heading/category they are placed under. I know this is not a trivial thing, however the proper categorization of those tweets is important to the usefulness of the paper.
Also, the ability to set a priority on our chosen streams which controls which tweets are highlighted, promoted and displayed in the headings on the page would be great. I would like more control over the 'front page' and this seems like a good way to make that possible.
Thanks Small RIvers!
I am in similar situation. I have been publisher of sewveral small magazines, and niow diwscovered paper.li.
It wld be great to jump on board when it really launches.
For me Guy Kavasaki has also been the Apple evangelist since he called himselved that title. I ve been following him since.
This also gives me the trust to wait for you--- some time :-)
Note I am one of those with too much trust in Now software, waited two years and trusted and then they went bust.
Wish you good luck!
Let us hear about yr planning. No "promises" necessary, but info!
Hi. Your platform for news distribution is terrific. An area for an editorial or "guest editorial" will allow for an editor to address local & international issues and make the publication more relevant to the paper's topic. Also, it would help publishers to market and distribute their content across many platforms, if
the publishers were able to include advertising widgets or share in advertising revenue generated by their paper. There should be some revenue sharing in order to market and increase equity value in a publisher's paper. Thanks for the opportunity to use this platform.
Please consider allowing premium users to change section headings.
'Stories' and 'Arts and Entertainment' do not fit my target audience at all.
Please add me to the list of those who would appreciate the functionality of:
- customizable ads,
- customizable section headings,
- identification of subscribers,
- ability to embed in a blog or other website
I've been using this service for a few weeks now and have to say that I love it - enough to pay a bit of a premium to have access to these features for the papers I have created (1. The Online Artisan Gazette and 2. Recipe Roundup - News You Can Chew).
Additional thought - I'd also like the ability to_** preview the content of my papers when I make changes the the input streams**_ - before I publish.
Embed is possible. I have my main newspaper embeded on my site and it works just fine. For the premium membership I would rather suggest among all to increase the number of papers publishers are running from 10 to 15 (or more9 for example?
The other feature might be to be able to or write editor's word for each daily isue of one newspaper or write it once and leave it for all editions as long as you want it to be so.
And one non-premium feature (I mean one for all to be used) should maybe be a possibility of creating a monthly edition as well. (I've already suggested that, but am repeating the thing here again for all of you to read).
And yes ... for the reasonable price/month I would gladly go for premium membership. I just yesterday have searched the link to this and sadly found out ti doesn't exist (yet).
Well, that's my 2 cents.
