IS THE "EDITOR'S NOTE" AN OP/ED SPACE OR NOT?
AnsweredI would like to use the Editor's Note as the space where I could write my ed/op different from issue to issue. Yet it seems that the Editors'Note is integral to the the profile and when you change it in one issue, you change it in all issue of the same publication. Is it correct or I did any mistake? If it is so, is there any way to publish an op/ed written by me, which is different in any new issue?

Hi!
There are two separate fields in the right column. There is:
Publisher Description (which sounds like what you discovered already). The Publisher profile description is carried over to all the papers you publish and is edited from your Account Settings, described here.
Editor's note. The editor's note is saved for each paper and can be found in Global Settings of your Paper Settings Dashboard.
If you open this article and scroll down to the bottom image, you can see where each field is located.
I hope that helps!

Hi Julia,
I'm afraid that you only partly answered. Let me summarize in other words, 1) Publisher Description: Ok, no issue at all it is very clear; 2) Editors'Note: my question was whether it is possible to change its contents EACH NEW ISSUE of a given publication; you answered that I could change it any new publication. Ok, this is clear, but it does not answer my question, which is - I repeat - could I write a new Editor's note for each new issue of the same publication, saving the previous editorials in the previous issues? As it stand it seems that each time I write a new editorial for the new issue, all the editor's note in that publication unavoidably change. Could I prevent this from happening ? How?

Hi again,
I can confirm that a new editor's note is saved for each new edition and will show in the archives. Whether your paper is using draft mode or is updating automatically, you just need to remember to publish first, and then update your editor's note for the edit to be saved for that edition.
I notice you are using Draft mode with Notifications Control ON. So the order would be 1. create draft with found content 2. publish draft 3. update your editor's note. 4. Click Send notification now.
Does that make sense?

Hi Julia,
I'm answering to your last reply (6 days a go). I followed to day the whole procedure as described by you but it does not work. After updating the Editors' note, the the text of teh note changed in all past edition till to March 8. From March 8 back, the text did not change, It is really a nonsense. Could you help?

@ Emilio, OK, I will have to take a look and see why I have different results. I tested changing the editor's note only (not about publisher field) and the change was only seen for that day. So perhaps something is different in your settings than in my test paper... I will check it out and get back to you asap.

@Emilio and all,
An update to this issue: an editor's note can now be created specific to an edition and the note will be stored correctly in the archives. Previous editor's notes will be also saved with the corresponding edition.
This fix affects editions pubished on and after Dec 6 2016.
To create an Editor's note that will be saved for a particular edition, it's important to note that editor's notes should be added after an edition is created/published (for both draft and automatic editions). The note saved for the edition shown in the archives will be the last note present at the time the edition is archived.
