Hi! Paper.li pulls the title, image and article text from the website's source code. Sometimes, the source code is formatted in a way that is not compatible with our platform or in some cases, the site is not formatted correctly. Take a look at this troubleshooting article to learn how we pull the title, content preview, or picture.

Paper.Li Is Not Correctly Presenting The Title, Article Text Or Image Content From A Webpage

Unfortunately, we do not allow publishers to correct the title, image or text directly on the paper. I hope this helps!

That's unacceptable. Have your coders provide that functionality. I'm a new *paying* user to this platform and it often feels it has been abandoned. I can't believe we're in 2017 and this has yet to be implemented.

Is this on the roadmap to allow? We understand that you don't allow us to edit it.

    Hi,

Please understand that the ability to edit articles' title and summary text isn't allowed due to copyright issues. We are only legally allowed to present already existing content from the web "as is." While the ability to edit article titles could be legitimate in some cases (eg when our scraper fetches the wrong info due to improper coding on the source site), it would also allow less scrupulous people to change article titles to basically anything they wish. Even if a title were to be changed to something relevant, if it is not the actual title of the article, we enter into legal issues.

For this reason, we recommend reviewing this article to optimize your site to work with our scraper. And in cases where you are not the site owner, you're always welcome to submit a ticket, and we'll be happy to investigate to see if our scraper can be adjusted to accommodate the site in question.

    Cheers!

    Hi Dorian,

You bring up a great point.

Given that restriction, I wonder if there is a way to somehow highlight (similar to medium) and/or add notes. Other than sources, I am trying to find unique ways for my paper.li to stand out compared to others. The competitive advantage would be a) news sources and b) commentary of some sort.

Currently those features aren't available, but you're welcome to post your ideas in our Feature Requests forum.

    Hi Fredric,

These features were recently released for both the bookmarklet and for the Add link feature. Not only can you replace the default article image, you can edit the article title and summary, and even post a comment on the article before adding it to your paper.
