Automatic Publication Skipped for Today?

For the first time in three years of being a Pro subscriber, no new edition of my paper was automatically presented today (and, of course, no automatic email to subscribers). In the Control Center, next to today's date, was the statement, "Nothing is set to be published on this day." (I took screen captures of everything if anyone needs them.)

I pull from a lot of different sources, including five different Google Alerts set-up for the purpose and pulling in their RSS feeds...so I knew there should be new items available. I forced a manual edition refresh and, sure enough, all new content poured in.

Has anyone had anything like this happen before? If so, any idea what might cause it? Other than today, I haven't manually refreshed content since last year, and I've made no configuration or even add-unit changes since January. I go in almost every day to curate content, but that generally involves only moving items around or adding one or two new ones. I wouldn't know how to schedule one specific day be excluded from the automatic edition updates even if I wanted to.  ;-)

Hi,

I've checked our logs and there were no incidents on Friday, nor were there any other reports of issues. I'm honestly not sure what would have caused your paper to not update other than it being a one time fluke. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If it ever happens again, please let us know by submitting a support ticket. While we monitor the community forums, our support desk is the fastest way to receive support.

Well, my post is still pending approval after two days, but I thought I'd offer a follow-up that the automatic publication ran normally again on the 6th and the 7th without any configuration or option changes. So there seems to be no persistent problem, but I remain curious as to what stopped the auto update on 5 April. And how/if that can be prevented from happening going forward. Takes some time responding to folks who subscribe to the email notification and who ask why they didn't get their morning paper.   :-)

Many thanks, Dorian. It didn't qualify as a support issue, really: easily correctable for the day by a manual refresh, and it only happened the one time. I was just wondering if anyone knew what might have caused it to happen. When I'm able, I usually curate the day's items by moving them around (thanks for the now-not-so-recent ability to recategorize items to different "sections," BTW; very helpful), but when I travel the site is on its own to update and publish. One day, no problem. Several days in a row with the content stuck would be. Was hoping there was preventative maintenance I might do on my end. If you haven't seen it before, and this is the first time it's happened to me in three years, doesn't sound like an actual problem.  :-)
